February 2010

Dear Friends,

The Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad is reaching out to you, our friends and neighbors, for financial help to continue to provide quality, around-the-clock emergency medical services and rescue operations.

Each year, your tax-deductible donations go directly to the purchase of vital medical supplies, equipment and training. And this year, we will replace our 1986 ambulance, which, after 24 years of dedicated service, is ready to be retired.

Replacing this vehicle, at a cost of upwards of $140,000, is part of our dedication to serving you, which we are proud to do around the clock, seven days a week.

Throughout 2009, the organization responded to 539 calls, a 41% increase over 2008. Dedicated members also spent more than 3,000 hours answer calls and training on their own time to ensure residents get the best care. In addition to responding to emergencies, the squad offers the annual Santa visits and provides safety education the community.

Our organization has received local, state and national recognition for the work we do. In 2009, the AHFAS was named EMS Magazine’s national Gold Award winner for a volunteer organization. Readers of the Asbury Park Press voted the AHFAS the Best First Aid Squad in Monmouth County. And, the squad is home to the 2009 Outstanding Volunteer EMT selected by the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services, Office of Emergency Medical Services.

All the awards in the world, however, cannot surpass the thanks we get from you on a daily basis.

And none of this can be done without you. We count on your generous financial donations so you can continue to depend on us to be there when you dial 911. We are a 501(c)3 organization, which provides so many tax-deductible ways for you to give, ranging from cash donations, planned gifts, support from your family foundation or your business. Aside from financial contributions, the AHFAS is always looking for new members. For information about membership, please call our non-emergency number (732-291-8118), drop us an e-mail ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Jerry Pandolfo
