Why should you volunteer to be a part of the Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad?

 

The volunteers of the AHFAS are just like you. They all have one thing in common – a commitment to give something of themselves to help someone else in their time of need.

 

Our members are teachers, fishermen, engineers, stock brokers, office workers, homemakers, journalists, artists, retirees and so much more. Sound familiar? It should. We are the community.

 

You have a value, now is the time to use it to help others. No training is necessary. That will be provided for free.

 

Becoming a member is painless. Start by downloading and completing the AHFAS membership application through the button below.

Prospective members must:

 

• Be at least 18-years old.

• Be cleared medically by their doctor.

• Be willing to complete a police background check.

 

Once  you’ve completed the application, you’ll meet with the membership committee to learn how the Squad can help you meet your personal goals. There are many levels of membership and we’re sure one will meet your needs.

 

Soon after being approved for membership, your journey begins. You will be part of an award-winning team. We’ll provide CPR training, basic uniforms and access to personal protective gear to assure your safety.

 

We require all members to commit to one duty night each week, which requires them to be available to respond from home to calls between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Scheduling is flexible, should you night be available to help out at night. We also ask all members to make at least 10% of the squad’s annual calls, which represents about one call a week.

 

All new members begin a 12-month probationary period. During that time, they’ll be assigned a mentor so you’re not on this journey alone.
