AHFAS CADETS – THE NEXT WAVE OF EMS PROVIDERS

Do you know a young person who is interested in learning about first aid while becoming an important part of the community?

The Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad Cadet Corps may be just for them. The organization is open to young women and men between the ages of 14 and 18, and provides members with an inside look at the operation of a top-line first aid squad. Once cadet members turn 18 they can transition into regular membership.

Cadet members are trained in CPR and basic first aid. And, cadet members age 16 and over can also ride along on real-life emergencies with adult supervision.

Cadet members participate in community events and occasionally non-EMS related field trips. For example, each year the cadets hold a garage sale fundraiser during the town-wide garage sale.

Likewise, cadet members will support the squad during standby coverage at local street fairs and the annual Fireman’s Fair. Cadets are also an integral part of the squad’s annual Santa Runs event in December.

Why join?

Being a member of the AHFAS Cadet Corps is a great way to meet new friends, learn new skills, and become part of the community.

There are also several great benefits available for cadet members. Those age 16 and above are eligible to train to become emergency medical technicians where they’ll learn critical skills that can be used to save a life.

Being an AHFAS cadet is also a great way to earn community service time and looks great on a college application. Cadets are eligible for college scholarships open to young first aiders. And, they’ll earn valuable life experience skills that can be helpful for the rest of their lives.

Interested in taking the next step to become a cadet? Send an email to info@ahfirstaid.org and someone will get back to you soonest.
